My name is Robert H. Stonik. I am currently a creative higher education professional with experience working with students at the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, and the high school level. I have a BA in Creative Advertising from Michigan State University, and I spent most of my time as an undergrad leading a group that planned events for students, by students. Because of these diverse experiences, I specialize in student development, creative communications, copywriting/editing, event planning, and more!
In my current role, I am the BlueCorps Advisor for the University of Michigan College of LSA Technology Services. I lead, supervise, and mentor a team of 6 students that do consultations and workshops for educational technology needed for classwork.
I am also the Lead Business Mentor with Northville High School Robotics, where I teach valuable business and communication skills to over 80 high school students.
Most recently, I was the Project Coordinator for Events and Storytelling at the University of Michigan's Center for Socially Engaged Design. In that role, I planned complex events like the Innovation in Action workshop series and created content for website and social media.
Before that, I worked as the Veteran Liaison at the City of Dearborn, where I planned veterans events like Memorial Day, Flag Day and Veterans Day in collaboration with the Dearborn Allied War Veterans Council.
At Michigan State University, I graduated on the Dean's List with a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising (Creative). I was involved for 4 years with the University Activities Board at Michigan State University. In my final year, as Chairperson, I managed an organization of 11 directors and over 200 student volunteers to program 2-3 events for students every week.
When I get free time, I love watching pro wrestling, watching Detroit sports, playing Nintendo games, and going to the movies.
My Creative Process
Input, Intellection, and Ideation: these are three of my top five strengths that I received through Gallup's StrengthsFinder assessment.
Input is the tendency to collect information. Intellection is a love for thinking and reflection. Ideation is a fascination with ideas and their creation. Collectively, I view this as my creative process. I collect information from the world. I think about and reflect on that information. I create valuable ideas.
